Kantha is a centuries-old tradition of hand stitching intricate and artistic patterns using a simple running stitch. This meticulous process involves layering two to three pieces of discarded vintage fabric, transforming them into beautiful works of "recycled art." Each stitch in Kantha is more than just a thread; it is a symbolic representation of love and connection, crafted predominantly by the Hindu snake-charmers community from the Tharparkar region of Sindh. The resulting textile tells stories of heritage and artistry, with each piece being as unique as the hands that created it.

Khaes, on the other hand, is a robust damask cotton cloth that originates from the Punjab region. This fabric is hand-woven with coarse cotton yarn, making it exceptionally thick and durable. Traditionally used for blankets and winter wraps, Khaes offers both warmth and a rich texture that is highly valued in artisanal creations.

Block printing is a traditional textile printing technique that involves carving intricate designs onto wooden blocks, which are then used to stamp patterns onto fabric. This labor-intensive process requires great skill and attention to detail, resulting in unique and beautiful prints.

At Bulbul, we celebrate these ancient and time-honored crafts by working closely with skilled artisans from workshops across Pakistan to create stunning textiles. Our limited edition eclectic collection of bohemian kimonos, vests, wraps and boleros are a fusion of these three exquisite craft techniques that offer a unique blend of history, craftsmanship, and contemporary style. The result is a statement garment that not only stands out for its beauty but also for its deep-rooted cultural significance, heritage and artistic expression.
